Sabres claw Aces in junior C game

First-period goals by Logan Aylward, Jordan Roche and Curtis Martell led the Belfast Down East Auto Parts Sabres to an 8-2 drubbing of the Tignish Perry's Construction Aces in Razzy's P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League action Sunday in Summerside.

Roche and Aylward each scored again in the second and third periods, respectively. Tyler Deagle (1-2), Michael McQuillan (1-1) and Matthew Glover netted the other Sabres scores.

Keirsten Steele had three assists, while Robert Hicken and Luke MacAulay each chipped in two helpers.

Belfast outshot Tignish 37-28 and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Tignish was 0-for-5 with the extra man.

Brett Ramsay and Brayden Handrahan tallied the Aces goals.

Sabres goalie Ben Ladner record the win. Aces netminder Kristen Clemens was tagged with the loss.

On Saturday, the Southside MacDonald's Excavation EF MacPhee Lynx thumped the North River 10-3 in Crapaud.

Brady Vandervelden (2-1), Ryan Beckingham (2), Colton Dawson (1-3), Brandon Green (1-1), Josh Nelson (1-1), Taylor Buote (1-1), Rourke Perry and Alex MacLeod had the Lynx goals.

Blake MacKenzie chipped in three assists.

Liam O'Connor, Dylan McKenna and Zack Wright scored the Flames goals.

Sean MacPhee earned the goaltending win over North River's Alex Smith.
