Coyotes call up Gormley

Murray River native Brandon Gormley, a Memorial Cup winner in 2012, is currently playing with the AHL’s Portland Pirates.

Murray River native Brandon Gormley was recalled Monday by the Arizona Coyotes.

The team announced the defenceman’s addition while assigning forward Justin Hodgman to its American Hockey League affiliate, the Portland Pirates.

The six-foot-two Gormley, 22, has recorded a goal, two assists and six penalty minutes in six games with the Pirates this season. The Coyotes drafted him in the first round (13th overall) in 2010.

Gormley made his NHL debut last season when he played five games with the Coyotes.

The Coyotes host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.
