Islanders hockey team opens season at home against Saint John

The Charlottetown Islanders will open their second season Friday, Sept. 12, when they take on the Saint John Sea Dogs at the Eastlink Centre.

The team released a full 68-game schedule Friday, which consists of 12 Friday night, nine Saturday night and seven Sunday afternoon home games.

The season-opening weekend continues on Saturday, Sept. 13, as Halifax visits Charlottetown in one of nine games against the Mooseheads.

“We are looking forward to what should be an exciting year of Islanders hockey here in Charlottetown,” said head coach Gordie Dwyer. “We are very happy with how things went at the draft and are looking to keep that momentum going straight into training camp.”

The Moncton Wildcats visit Charlottetown for the first time on Sunday, Sept. 28 with a 3 p.m. start. Defending President Cup champion Val-d'Or Foreurs visit Charlottetown on Friday, Oct. 3.

The team’s final home game is Friday, March 20, against the Sea Dogs then travel to Moncton a night later to conclude the regular season.
