Walker receives ECHL weekly award

Charlottetown’s Geoff Walker was named the ECHL player of the week.

The Florida Everblades scored four goals and had two assists and was a +4 as the Everblades went 3-0-0 last week.

The 26-year-old scored had an assist in a 3-2 shootout win against Reading on Wednesday, notched a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in a 3-2 victory over the Royals on Friday and picked up a goal and an assist in a 6-1 win against Greenville on Saturday.

Walker has six goals and three assists in six games with Florida this season. He had six goals and two assists in 43 games with Syracuse of the American Hockey League.

Under an NHL contract with Tampa Bay, Walker has 80 points in 100 career ECHL games with Florida and Ontario and 116 points in 269 career AHL games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Lake Erie and Syracuse.
