Logan Garnhum scored his second goal of the game 7:04 into overtime Saturday to give the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers a 7-6 victory over the Montague Total Assets Fitness Maniacs.
The Vipers now lead the best-of-seven Island Junior Hockey League final 2-0. Game 3 is Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Kensington.
The Vipers began Saturday’s game with a 3-2 lead after Game 2 was halted Wednesday after linesman Aaron Coffin left the game citing health concerns. He later died.
The Maniacs raised more than $8,200 for the Coffin family on Saturday night.
The Vipers lead 4-3 after the first period while they trailed 6-5 going to the third period. Spencer Montgomery’s second of the game tied the contest 5:46 into the third.
Adam Wight had a goal and two assists for the Vipers while Josh Bowman had a goal and a helper and Jordan Mayhew a goal. Ryan Kelly, Jeremy Jollimore, Brett Hogan, Brandon Gallant and Ty Price had assists.
Matt Myers had two goals and an assist to lead the Maniacs while Alex Gallant had a goal and two helpers. Damon MacDonald had a goal while assists went to Sam Hughes, Hunter MacIntyre, Stewart Branstrom, Tyler Rose and Matt Higgins.
The goal scorers for the two carried over markers from Wednesday were not available.
Dylan McQuaid made 36 saves in the win while Tyler Whiffen made 43 saves in the loss.
