Falcons stay alive in IJHL playoff series with Maniacs

The Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons scored four times in the second period and skated to a 6-3 victory Tuesday night over the host Montague Total Assets Fitness Maniacs.

The win kept the Falcons alive in the Island Junior Hockey League semifinal.

The Maniacs lead the best-of-seven series 3-2.

Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Simmons Sport Centre.

If a Game 7 is needed, it will be played in Montague on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Josh Kirkpatrick led the Falcons with three goals while Jackson Donovan, Jack Connell and Josh Scott also scored.

Assists went to Brandon Birt (3), Trevor MacKinnon, John Young, Craig Dougan, Lucas Holmes, Connor Smith and Brady Cook.

Matt Myers (2-2) and Damon MacDonald (1-1) scored for the Maniacs.

Bradley Jenkins, Hunter MacIntyre and Alex Gallant each had an assist.

The Falcons led 1-0 after the first period and 5-1 after the second but were outshot 46-37 in the contest.

Daniel Nicholson (Falcons) and Tyler Whiffen (Maniacs) were the goaltenders.
