Vipers complete the sweep of the Red Wings

The Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers are going back to the Island Junior Hockey League finals.

The four-time defending champs completed the four-game sweep of the Western Arsenault’s Fish Mart Red Wings with a 6-1 win Saturday at the Evangeline Rec Centre.

Brett Hogan led the way with two goals and two assists while Spencer Montgomery had three assists and Adam Wight a goal and a helper.

Jordan Mayhew, Josh Bowman and Zen Hamil each added a goal while Jeremy Jollimore had an assist. The Vipers had two short-handed goals.

Jeremy Balderston from Fidan Feta and Brandon Carter replied for the Red Wings goal.

Dylan McQuaid stopped 22 shots for the win while Chris Gallant made 47 saves in the loss.

The Vipers held period leads of 1-0 and 5-1 on Saturday.

Kensington will play the winner of the Sherwood-Montague series. Montague leads the series 2-1 with Game 4 Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Cody Banks Arena.
