The UPEI Panthers women’s hockey team has added a two-way forward for next season.
Liverpool, N.S., native Kristen Gordon committed to the program after a recent visit.
“Everyone I met on campus was friendly, helpful, and encouraging. They made me feel right at home,” she said. “UPEI gave me that hometown feeling and I knew it was the place for me. I can’t wait to be a part of the Panthers.”
Gordon, who is enrolled in the science program, plays for the Metro Boston Pizza in the Nova Scotia Midget AAA league. The Liverpool Regional High School student finished the 2013-14 regular season with six goals and three assists in 22 games.
Gordon described herself as a hardworking, aggressive and consistent two-way player who reads the play well.
The Metro team is the defending provincial champion, and is currently in the Nova Scotia final. Gordon represented Team Nova Scotia at the Atlantic Challenge Cup for four consecutive years from 2009 to 2012.
“Kristen will bring a great work ethic and true grit to our program,” said head coach Bruce Donaldson. “With her experience level playing at four Atlantic Challenge Cups and Esso Cup Nationals, she will add depth up front as a strong two-way player.”
