Murray River native Brandon Gormley, a Memorial Cup winner in 2012, is currently playing with the AHL’s Portland Pirates.

Murray River's Brandon Gormley makes his NHL debut tonight.

The 22-year-old blue-liner will be in the Phoenix Coyotes' lineup tonight when they play the Tampa Bay Lightning in Florida at 8:30 p.m. ADT.

“It’s a special time for me," Gormley said for a story on the Coyotes website. "You've got to use your opportunity. It’s a big game for the team (too) and fun to be put in that situation.”

Gormley was drafted 13th overall in the 2010 Draft while playing with the Moncton Wildcats.

"His time is now," Tippett said in the coyotes.nhl.com story. "We'll see what he's got."

The six-foot-two, 190-pound defenceman has six goals and 28 assists in 52 games this season for the Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League. He had five goals and 24 assists in 68 games in 2012-13, his first with the Pirates.
