SMU Huskies back in AUS men's hockey series with Acadia

Stephen Johnston's power-play goal was the winner Sunday as the Saint Mary’s Huskies defeated the Acadia Axemen 2-1.

The Axemen lead the best-of-five series 2-1 with Game 4 set for Monday at 7 p.m. at the Halifax Forum.

At the Forum on Sunday, the game was scoreless through the first period and Lucas Bloodoff scored in the second period to give the home side the lead.

Johnston scored eight minutes into the third before Michael Clarke got the Axemen on the board eight minutes later.

Bradley Greene, Ryan Hillier, Michael D’Orazio and Matt Tipoff had assists for the Huskies while Travis Randell had a helper for Acadia.

Anthony Peters made 24 saves for the win while former P.E.I. Rocket goalie Evan Mosher stopped 20 shots in the loss for Acadia.
