Savage, Mayer sign pro hockey deals

Two UPEI Panthers have signed professional hockey contracts.

Goaltender Wayne Savage inked a deal Saturday with the Rapid City Rush in Rapid City, SD, and Jordan Mayer signed Thursday with the Quad City Mallards in Moline, IL. Both teams are in the Central Hockey League.

Savage, a fourth-year student from St. Thomas, Ont., was 9-5 with a 2.52 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage this season for UPEI.

Mayer, a second-year student from Kingston, Ont., had five goals and 16 assists in 25 games this season.
