SUMMERSIDE — It was a successful weekend for the Summerside Western Capitals.
The Capitals swept a pair of back-to-back games in the Maritime Junior Hockey League in less than 24 hours. The Capitals started the weekend off with a 5-3 road win over the Pictou County Weeks Crushers on Saturday night and followed that up with an 8-2 triumph over the Bridgewater Lumberjacks on Sunday afternoon.
The Capitals upped their record to 20-22-2-3.
The Capitals are back in action Thursday when they host the Amherst Ramblers for a make-up game at 7:30 p.m.
Capitals 8, Lumberjacks 2
Alex Bradley, who had one goal and four assists, recorded five points to lead the Capitals offensively.
Brad Power had two goals and an assist while Joey Colatarci (1-1), Thomas Stavert, Malik Johnson, Curtis McGregor and Maxim Pitre rounded out the scoring. Isaac Jay (3), Mitch Henneberry, Jordan Buchanan and Blaize Bridges drew assists.
Campbell Pickard (1-1) and Layton Parsons countered for the Lumberjacks (4-37-3-3).
The Capitals led 2-0 after the first period and led 6-1 after the second.
Simon-Pier Chamberland was the winning goalie. The Caps outshot the Lumberjacks 43-26.

Rookie goaltender Alex Kelly made 38 saves.
Blaize Bridges and Maxim Pitre each had a goal and an assist while Mitch Henneberry and Thomas Stavert each chipped in with two assists to lead the Capitals’ offensively.
Cavan Fitzgerald, Isaac Jay and Joey Colatarci also scored for the Capitals, who received a single helper from Alex Bradley.
Nick Parker (1-1), former Capital JP Harvey and Brandon Parsons found the back of the net for the Crushers (31-12-0-5).
The Capitals directed 30 shots at Crushers goaltender Brandon Thibeau.
