Huskies defeat Panthers to send AUS quarter-final to Game 3

The Saint Mary’s Huskies forced a deciding Game 3 with the UPEI Panthers with a 4-1 victory Friday in Halifax.

The deciding game in the best-of-three Atlantic University Sport (AUS) men’s hockey quarter-final will take place Sunday at 7 p.m. at MacLauchlan Arena.

Stephen Johnston and Stephen MacAulay each scored twice to lead the Huskies.

Defenceman Reginaldo Traccitto from Cody McNaughton and Dana Fraser replied with the Panthers goal.

Anthony Peters made 33 saves for the win while Wayne Savage stopped 26 shots in the loss.

Saint Mary’s held period leads of 1-0 and 3-1. The Huskies were 0-for-5 on the power play while the Panthers were 1-for-3.

Tickets go on sale at UPEI Athletics and Recreation Panther Central Saturday morning at 11 a.m. They will be sold until Sunday at 5 p.m. The MacLauchlan Arena box office will re-open at 6 p.m. Call 566-0368 for phone orders.
