Dion scores twice as Moncton beats UPEI in men's hockey

Moncton doubled the UPEI Panthers 4-2 Wednesday in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action in New Brunswick.

Danny Chiasson and Pier-Antoine Dion scored power-play goals in the second period for Moncton while Allain Saulnier scored the winner eight minutes into the third. Dion iced the game with an empty-net goal.

Travis McIsaac and Alex Wall scored for UPEI. Chris DeSousa had two assists while Cole MacMillan and Tyler Brown each had one.

Adrien Lemay stopped 20 shots for the win while Mavric Parks made 30 saves in the loss.

The Panthers led 1-0 after 20 minutes but went to the second intermission tied 2-2.

Moncton (14-8-0) takes a three-point lead over UPEI (11-8-3) for third place in the conference standings.

The Panthers travel to Wolfville, N.S., Friday to play Acadia and Halifax on Saturday to play Dalhousie. Both games start at 7 p.m.
