Hambly scores winner as major midget Islanders snap losing streak

The Charlottetown Islanders snapped a 14-game losing streak in the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League on Saturday night.

Alex Hambly’s unassisted goal with 3:42 remaining in the third period snapped a 2-2 tie, lifting the Islanders to a 3-2 road victory over the Moncton Flyers.

Cody McPhee and Jonathan Arsenault also scored for the Islanders, who will take a 5-18-4 record into Sunday’s home game against the Miramichi Rivermen (19-7-2) at MacLauchlan Arena at 1:45 p.m. Sebastien Cormier and Johnathon Larter added single assists.

Ryan Chiasson and Christian Gregan countered for the Flyers (20-9-0).

Daryl MacCallum earned the goaltending win over Maxim Landry. Moncton outshot Charlottetown 32-24.
