The Charlottetown Islanders have added some "truculence" to its lineup.
The team announced Thursday night it has signed Ontario-born free agent Mike DiPaolo. The six-foot-four, 215-pound Brantford native most recently played with the Sarnia Sting in the Ontario Hockey League.
“When looking at our team we felt it was important to add a player that would bring size and truculence to our lineup,” said Charlottetown Islanders general manager Grant Sonier. “In addition we like the fact that he has had experience playing both forward and defence.”
The team expects the 19-year-old to be in the lineup in the “very near future.”
In 43 games last season in Sarnia, DiPaolo had one and 64 penalty minutes.
