The Charlottetown Mark’s Work Wearhouse Islanders doubled the Fredericton Canadiens 4-2 Sunday for their first victory of the New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Major Midget Hockey League season.
Three of the Islanders goals were scored on the power play at MacLauchlan Arena.
Hunter McIntyre, Cody McPhee, Shawn Corney and Calen MacInnis scored in the win. Jonathan Arsenault and Johnathon Larter each had two helpers while singles went to Tyler Doucette, Sebastien Cormier, Cole Jenkins and Nick Currie.
David Comeau and Matt Paul scored power-play goals for the Canadiens.
The Islanders held period leads of 3-0 and 3-2.
Daryl MacCallum made 25 saves for the victory while Ryan Hale stopped 23 for Fredericton.
Charlottetown improves to 1-4-0-1 while Fredericton is 2-5-0-0.
The Islanders hit the road for a game Saturday with the Moncton Flyers at 7:30 p.m. before returning home for a Sunday game with the Saint John Vitos at 1:45 p.m. at MacLauchlan Arena.
