Charlottetown sweeps exhibition games with Kensington
Shawn Corney scored three times Sunday as the Charlottetown Mark's Work Wearhouse Islanders defeated the Kensington Wild 4-2 in major midget hockey pre-season action at MacLauchlan Arena.
The Islanders swept both games of a weekend series with the Wild, winning 4-3 on Saturday in Kensington.
Alex Hambly had the other Charlottetown goal Sunday with Hunter MacIntyre recording two helpers and singles going to Nick Currie, Johnathon Larter and Conor MacEachern.
Dillon Wall and Colton Chaisson scored for the Wild, which previously were the Cornwall Thunder, with assists going to Campbell Gallant, Sam Jay, Brandon Williams and Colton Chaisson.
Cam Duffy was the winning goalie while Bradley Shea had the loss.
On Saturday, Charlottetown received goals from Corney, Hambly, Jordan McCabe and Dylan Wheatley.
Sabastien Cormier, Jonathan Arsenault, Larter, Calen MacInnis, Logan Toole and Cole Jenkins had assists.
Austin Taylor scored two for the Wild.
Abel Arsenault had a goal and an assist while Spencer Sherren, Parker Ronohan, Riley Thomson and Jesse Jay each added helpers.
James Duffy was the winning goalie while Cameron Visser picked up the loss.
