Seventh game required to determine major midget champion

Cornwall wins Game 6 2-1 over Charlottetown

The Cornwall Superior Thunder has forced a deciding seventh game Thursday in the P.E.I. major midget hockey final.

The Thunder has stormed back from a 3-1 deficit in the best-of-seven series with back-to-back wins over the Charlottetown Mark’s Work Wearhouse Islanders.

The Thunder won 2-1 Wednesday on home ice.

Logan Doiron and Curtis MacGregor scored for Cornwall with assists from Jonathan Arsenault, Dillon Wall, Blaze Bridges and Jean-Marc Evans-Renaud.

Alex Gallant from Zack MacEwan and Damon MacDonald replied with a power-play goal for Charlottetown.

Alex Kelly made 37 saves for the victory while Daryl MacCallum stopped 26 shots in the loss

The Thunder held period leads of 1-0 and 2-0.

Game time is 8 p.m. Thursday at MacLauchlan Arena in Charlottetown. The winner advances to the Atlantic championship in Moncton, N.B. from April 4 to 7.
