Charlottetown’s Maggie Grimmer scored her first university hockey goal Saturday as the UPEI Panthers blanked the Saint Mary Huskies 5-0.
Christina Kelly, Jessie-Anne Howard and Laura Bradley all had a goal and two assists for the Panthers. Kiana Strand also scored while Ferran Brown and Samantha Sweet had helpers.
It was the most goals the Panthers have scored this season. The team, which averages 1.7 goals per game, has scored four goals once this season, Jan. 13 in defeating Moncton 4-3.
Kristy Dobson kicked out all 18 shots she faced for the shutout while Sienna Cooke stopped 26 shots in the loss.
UPEI led 2-0 after the first and 4-0 through two periods of play. The win snapped a three-game skid for the Panthers.
UPEI improved to 13-9-1 while Saint Mary’s fell to 12-8-3. They are tied for third place with 27 points.
UPEI finishes up the season Sunday when they host the St. F.X. X-Women (22-1) at 6 p.m. Saint Mary’s plays Mount Allison (6-13-4) today at 2 p.m. in Sackville, N.B.
