The Summerside Western Capitals beat the Dieppe Commandos 5-2 Saturday in Maritime Hockey League action in Summerside.

Christopher Caissy led the Caps scoring with two goals in a strong offensive attack that put 34 shots on Dieppe goaltender Alexandre St-Amaud.

Jonathan Auberin, Danny Chiasson and J.P. Harvey rounded out the scoring for the Capitals.

Robbie Graham and Julien Bellliveau responded for Dieppe.

The win came after Summerside's 15-game winning streak was snapped Friday in Woodstock, N.B.

“Today was a bounce back game after Woodstock,” said capitals head coach Bill McGuigan. “The execution was a problem in Woodstock and tonight it was better.”

The Capitals controlled much of the flow of the game with the only lapse occurring midway through the second period when they gave up two goals in less than two minutes.

“There was a 90-second span where they got two goals,” McGuigan said. “You never like getting scored on that quick but we were never in any doubt that we were going to win the hockey game.”

The Commandos managed only 19 shots. Dieppe was 1-for-6 on the power play while the Capitals were scoreless on two opportunities.

Attendance was announced at 1,465.
