Josh Currie had a goal and an assist to lead the P.E.I. Rocket to a much-needed road victory Saturday in Sydney, N.S.
The Rocket doubled the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 4-2 in front of 3,347 fans at Centre 200.
Ben Duffy, Alex Micallef (shorthanded) and rookie Alexis Pépin also found the back of the net in the win. Pépin's 12th goal of the season was the game-winning goal.
Tomas Pavelka and Erik Robichaud had assists.
Currie's marker, his 39th on the season, was an empty-net goal with 1:21 left.
Raphael Corriveay from Timothé Simard and Stephen Midensky opened the scoring for the host team 2:56 into the second period. The Rocket replied with two before the second intermission and was leading 4-1 when John-Michael Walsh scored his first on the season with 24 seconds left in the game. Billy Hartley and Gareth Nicholson had assists.
Antoine Bibeau made 18 saves for the win while David Honzik stopped 28 shots in the loss.
P.E.I. improves to 26-20-2 while Cape Breton falls to 10-31-3-5.
The two teams meet Thursday and Friday in Charlottetown. Game times are 7 p.m.
It will be the Rocket's first home game since Jan. 11. P.E.I. was 2-4 during the six road games.
