The P.E.I. Rocket gave up three second period goals Friday night and couldn’t recover, losing 3-2 to one of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s hottest team.
The Baie-Comeau Drakkar improved to 30-11-2-2 and has not lost in regulation in nine games. The Rocket falls to 25-18-2.
Valentin Zykov, Carl Gelinas and Petr Straka scored for the Baie-Comeau while Alexandre Chenevert, Samuel Noreau, Zykov and Straka drew assists.
Louick Marcotte and Matej Beran scored for the Rocket while Victor Provencher, Ben Duffy and Troy Vance had the helpers.
The Rocket led 1-0 after the first, but the team found itself trailing 3-1 after 40 minutes. The Rocket was outshot 13-4 in the crucial second period. They rebounded to hold a 15–6 advantage in the third, but could not score the equalizer.
Antoine Bibeau was tagged with the loss after making 30 saves while Philippe Cadorette stopped 26 shots for the victory.
The Rocket travels to Chicoutimi today to play the Sagueneens (22-20-2-2) at 5 p.m. Atlantic.
