An Atlantic University Sport (AUS) judiciary committee is expected to make its decision by Friday after hearing UPEI hockey Panther Mason Wilgosh’s appeal of a 12-game suspension Tuesday.
Wilgosh was suspended for a Nov. 30 hit on Acadia’s Christopher Owens. In handing down the suspension, AUS executive director Phil Currie said it was a hit to the head while Wilgosh and UPEI officials disagreed.
The committee heard evidence Tuesday from officials with both universities and the AUS. The session started at 9:30 a.m. and ended at 7 p.m.
Wilgosh has already sat out three games and if the suspension is upheld would not be able to play until the Panthers’ final game of the season, Feb. 8 against St. Thomas.
