Sarah Steele is getting a gold medal.

The Stratford defenceman was on the Canadian team that defeated the USA 2-1 in overtime Saturday at the under-18 women's world hockey championship in Heinola, Finland.

Canada's Catherine Dubois tied the game with 13 seconds to go in the third period and Karly Heffernan scored the winner 58 seconds into overtime. Hanna Bunton assisted on the game-winning goal.

Jennifer Ryan gave the Americans the lead with two minutes remaining in the first period on the power play.

Canada was outshot 20-1 in the first period and 40-25 for the game.
