Swan sinks men's hockey Panthers in final minute

Bryce Swan’s scored the winner with 55 seconds to go in the third as the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds downed the UPEI Panthers 4-3 Friday in men’s hockey action in Fredericton.

It was his second goal of the game for the first-place Varsity Reds (10-3). The Panthers dropped to 5-7-1 and will look to get back into the win column tonight when they play the St. Thomas Tommies at 7 p.m. in Fredericton.

Jordan Mayer, Jordan Knox and Mason Wilgosh scored for the Panthers. Dana Fraser had two assists while singles went to Reggie Traccitto, Chris Dasousa, Cole MacMillan and Mike MacIsaac.

Colby Pridham scored the other UNB goal.

Daniel Lacosta made 23 saves for the win while Mavric Parks stopped 24 shots in the loss in front of 2,453.

The Panthers scored twice on the power play (24 seconds apart in the second period) while UNB had one goal with the man advantage.

UNB led 1-0 after the first and the game was tied 2-2 after 40 minutes.
