Brent Andrews of Hunter River squeezed in under the gun at the NHL draft on Saturday in St. Paul, Minn.

The 17-year-old Halifax Mooseheads forward was picked in the seventh round, 202nd overall, by the Nashville Predators. He had been ranked 129th among North Americans by Central Scouting.

Just 10 picks remained in the draft when Andrews was selected.

“My heart skipped a beat and my knees went weak,’’ Andrews told the Halifax Chronicle-Herald.

Andrews, who the Mooseheads took 15th overall in the 2009 QMJHL draft, was fifth in team scoring last season with 12 goals among 29 points in 68 games.

He was also 11th in the league in faceoff wins with a 55.1 success rate.

Andrews will take part in Nashville’s conditioning camp this week.
