SUMMERSIDE — Corey MacPherson enjoyed a big night at Summerside Raceway on Friday night.

MacPherson, 22, was in the bike for four winners on the 12-dash harness racing card. The card was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but had to be rescheduled due to heavy rain and thunder.

MacPherson recorded his first win behind Elnino Nico (2:01.2 — a new race-win record) in Race 3, and followed that up by steering Lil Channel Road (2:01.2 — a maiden record), N S Downey (2:00.2 — a new race-win record) and Major Venue (1:59.2) to the winner’s circle.

MacPherson, who is from Vernon River, drove Waiting On A Woman to the fastest-ever trot mile — 1:59.1 — in Summerside Raceway history on July 12 during the Lobster Carnival meet.

Feature race

Rymar Chief, a six-year-old bay gelding by Harrods-Blinker-Almahurst-Trim The Tree, won the featured $1,800 pace in Race 11. Time of the mile was 1:58.2 — equals the fastest trip of the night.

Fractions were 28, 57.4 and 1:28.1.

Ken Murphy did the driving for owner and trainer Eric Doucette of South Rustico.

Rich Raider, owned by Tyler DesRoches of Summerside, placed while Chester The Name finished in the show position. Carl MacDougall of Ellerslie owns Chester The Name.

Painted Desert also equalled the fastest mile in a $1,000 pace in Race 9. Walter Cheverie drove the five-year-old brown gelding by Western Ideal-Daylon Cameo-Carlsbad Cam for owner and trainer Donald Milligan of Tyne Valley.

Fractions were 28.2, 59.1 and 1:29.1.
