Kevin Crozier carded rounds of 68 and 69 en route to his fifth Stanhope Golf and Country Club championship during the weekend.
Crozier shared the first-round lead with Luke Allen, while Robert Shaw trailed by one shot after an opening 69.
The three golfers exchanged the lead on the front nine on Sunday with Shaw taking a one-shot lead after an opening nine 34. He was followed closely by Crozier, whose even par 36 placed him second and a 2-over 38 placed Allen three back of Shaw.
On the back nine, holes 13 and 14 proved to be the deciding factor where Crozier went birdie, birdie and Shaw bogeyed both holes.
Allen could only par these two difficult holes, which left Crozier three ahead of Shaw and four ahead of Allen. They all parred in from there giving the title to Crozier.
On the ladies side, Janet Bartelson overcame a five-shot deficit with eight holes to go to beat multiple club champion Chrissie MacLauchlan. Bartelson’s closing 39 on the last nine allowed her to overtake MacLauchlan and beat her by four shots.
Bartelson, who won both the senior and ladies club titles last year, was successful in defending her title with rounds of 85 and 80, while MacLauchlan shot rounds of 81 and 88. Lisa Arsenault finished in third with rounds of 88 and 86.
Dave Clay was the low senior (78 and 77), beating Bobby MacGuigan by one shot (78 and 78).
Earlier in the week, Logan Carr defended his junior boys title successfully, while his sister Bailey Carr also was successful in defending her title.
