Jackson to play Dolan in C final at Scotties in Montague

The P.E.I. Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion will be determined Monday.

Lisa Jackson’s team beat Suzanne Birt’s rink 8-5 Sunday afternoon at the Montague Curling Rink. It was Birt’s first loss at the six-team tournament.

Leading 3-2 after five ends, Jackson stole three in the sixth to go up 6-2. Birt responded with three of her own in the seventh. Jackson scored a deuce in the eighth and Birt counted a single in the ninth and final end.

Jackson will play Kim Dolan’s rink in tonight’s 7 p.m. C event final with the winner advancing to play Birt in Monday’s playoffs. Birt has double life with the first game at 10 a.m. and the second, if needed, at 3 p.m.

Dolan eliminated Shelly Bradley’s rink 8-4 in eight ends on Sunday.

Dolan led 3-2 after four end ends. Bradley scored singles in the next two ends to take a 4-3 advantage to the seventh. Dolan scored a single in seven and stole four in the final end.
