Alberta jumped out to a 5-0 lead through four ends en route to an 8-5 victory over Prince Edward Island Tuesday at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Montreal.
The Kim Dolan-skipped rink, from the Charlottetown Curling Complex, scored a singed in the fifth. The teams exchanged deuces the next two ends as P.E.I. went to the eighth down 7-3.
Alberta’s Val Sweeting scored a single in the eighth and the Island counted two in the ninth before shaking hands.
Sweeting improved to 7-2 while Dolan fell to 2-4 at the 12-team tournament.
P.E.I., which includes third Rebecca Jean MacDonald, second Sinead Dolan and lead Michala Robison, plays Saskatchewan in the late draw beginning at 8:30 p.m. ADT.
The Island team meets New Brunswick Wednesday at 10 a.m. and Canada at 8:30 p.m. Both times are ADT.
