The Suzanne Birt rink won the Royal LePage OVCA Women’s Fall Classic World Curling Tour event in Kemptville, Ont., on Sunday.
The Charlottetown Curling Complex team defeated the Darcy Robertson foursome from Winnipeg 8-3 in the final of the 24-team triple-knockout event.
Leading 5-3 through six ends, Birt stole a triple in the seventh for the victory.
The team, which earned $5,000 for the win, includes third Shelly Bradley, second Michelle McQuaid, and lead Susan McInnis.
The defending P.E.I. Scotties champions doubled Quebec’s Eve Belisle team 6-3 in the semifinals, and Brit O’Neill of Ottawa 7-2 in quarter-final action on Sunday. They only lost once in the triple-knockout round.
This is the Birt foursome’s second cashspiel win in as many weeks, after defeating Kathy O’Rourke’s team in an extra end in Moncton the previous weekend. The O’Rourke team finished 1-3 in Kemptville.
