The Morell Chevies advanced to the Kings County Baseball League semifinals with a 4-0 win over the Freetown Royals on Wednesday evening.
The Chevies swept the best-of-three series 2-0.
Quen Johnson picked up the win, limiting the Royals to five hits over his seven innings of work, finishing with six strikeouts. Dylan MacQuaid suffered the defeat, going the distance and surrendering nine hits.
The Chevies opened the scoring in the top of the first on a pair of run-scoring doubles by Troy Coffin and Desi Doyle. Andrew O'Shea would double home Colin Hansen in the second to increase the lead to 3-0.
A Logan Gallant sacrifice fly to score Stephen O'Shea in the seventh pushed across the fourth Morell run. Hansen and Jarrod Laybolt each finished the night with two hits to lead Morell while Morgan Murphy had a pair of hits for Freetown. The Chevies advance to face the Peakes Bombers in a series expected to begin on Sunday.
