P.E.I. Youth Selects lose 5-2 to New Brunswick

The P.E.I. Youth Selects are heading to Saskatoon on Tuesday for the under-17 Canada Cup tournament. New Brunswick scored four runs in the fifth inning to defeat the Prince Edward Island Youth Selects 5-2 Thursday at the Canada Cup in Saskatoon.

Jed Noonan, Kyle Pinksen, Darcy Affleck and Brandon Watts had P.E.I.’s hits while Matt Barlow and Cole MacLaren had RBIs. Pinksen and Ryne MacIsaac scored the team’s runs.

Affleck allowed five runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out five and walked one. Jayden MacLean allowed a hit in 1 2/3 innings of relief.

P.E.I. (1-1) plays Manitoba tonight at 8:30 p.m. ADT.
