Charlottetown host first-place Fredericton today at 1 p.m.
The Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders split a pair of games Saturday in Moncton.
Both games were decided by 6-1 scores. The Isles dropped the opener to the Moncton Mets before defeating the Hub City Brewers.
The Mets took a 2-1 lead in the third, added one in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Jordan Duffy was 3-for-3 with a walk and an RBI for Charlottetown against the Mets. Morgan MacLean, Dylan McKenna, Connor Myers, Josh Kelly and Alex Abbot each had one hit.
Scott Arsenault went 3-for-3 for the Mets while Matt Verrier was 1-for-1 with two walks and two RBIs.
Luc Vautour gave up six hits in six innings for his first win of the season. Taylor Larkin (1-3) went three innings in relief of McKenna and was tagged with the loss. He allowed two runs on five hits, a walk and two strikeouts.
McKenna and Dylan Beck also threw two innings.
Sean Corcoran led the charge with a 4-for-4 night in leading Charlottetown to victory against the Brewers.
He had three singles, a double, scored once and drove in three runs.
The game was tied 1-1 before the Islanders cashed three in during the fifth inning. They added two more in the seventh.
MacLean added two hits in the win while Duffy, Myers and Larkin each contributed singles.
Brody McDonald scattered seven hits for the complete game victory. He walked one and struck out four.
Mike Ivey went 3-for-3 and drove in the Brewers’ only run.
Juan Ortiz gave up three runs on four hits through four innings and was tagged with the loss.
The Islanders (12-16) send Jacob Beck to the mound today at 1 p.m. at Memorial Field in Charlottetown to take on the first-place Fredericton Royals (17-9).
