Athletics, Chevies tied when rain falls on KCBL game

The P.E.I. Brewing Company Athletics and Morell Chevies were tied 7-7 Wednesday when the Kings County Baseball League game was called after six innings due to rain.

Josh Kirpatrick was the Athletics’ starter with relief from Dylan Beck while Troy Coffin started for the Chevies with relief from Quen Johnston.

The Athletics were led offensively by Marshall Ellis with three hits and Dominique Ryan and Morgan MacLean with two each. Jarrod Laybolt led the Chevies with three hits while Scott Ellsworth had two.

The Chevies drubbed the Cornwall Mudhens 17-1 Tuesday in Morell.

Grant Doyle picked up the win, scattering three hits and striking out eight. Three Mudhens pitchers combined to surrender 12 hits and walked nine, while hitting three batters.

Leading the onslaught for the Chevies were Logan Gallant (4-for-4 with four runs scored), Brad Larter (3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs) and Colin Hansen (2-for-4).

Jay Shaw had a pair of hits for the Mudhens while Chris Chandler added the other.
