The P.E.I. Carpenter's Union 1338 Juniors defeated the Chatham Ironmen 8-4 to split a doubleheader Tuesday in New Brunswick Junior Baseball League action in Cornwall.
The Ironmen took the lead on a two-run home run by Mark MacPhee in the first. P.E.I. answered back with three runs in the bottom of the inning keyed by Dylan McQuaidâ€™s two-run single followed by a RBI-single by Brady Arsenault.
P.E.I. followed it up with another three runs in the second, keyed by McQuaidâ€™s two-run double, and added another two in the fourth.
Tyson Blue was the winning pitcher. He scattered seven hits while striking out eight in the complete-game performance.
McQuaid finished the day 2-for-4 with five RBIs while Arsenault went 3-for-4.
Brandon MacKay was tagged with the loss while Nick Leggatt was 2-for-2.
In the opener, the Ironmen scored four runs in the third inning to cruise to an 8-3 victory.
Tyler King pitched the complete game for the win while Arsenault threw six innings for P.E.I. before being relieved by Dylan Beck.
Chatham was led by Nolan Levyâ€™s three hits and a MacPhee home run.
Chasse Gallant went 3-for-4 for P.E.I. while J.J. Oram was 2-for-4 and Brady McQuaid 2-for-3. Dylan McQuaid added a home run.
The Juniors host the Metro Mudcats Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Terry Fox Complex in Cornwall for a doubleheader.
