Juan Ortiz of the Hub City Brewers slides into home safely on a pass ball as Charlottetown Gaudet's Auto Body Islanders pitcher Brodie McDonald tries to make the tag Wednesday in Moncton.
X-rays on Brodie McDonald’s right foot revealed no evidence of a fracture, the Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders announced Thursday.
The left-handed pitcher was struck by a sharply hit ground ball while pitching for the Islanders in a New Brunswick Senior Baseball League game in Moncton on Wednesday night.
The team said Thursday that McDonald has been told rehab should focus on reducing swelling and inflammation of a bad bruise.
No timetable has been set for McDonald’s return but he will not be available Saturday when the Islanders host the Fredericton Royals in doubleheader at Memorial Field beginning at 2 p.m.
