Charlottetown improves to 4-1 in New Brunswick Senior Baseball League play

Veteran outfielder Sean Corcoran drove home Jordan Duffy with the winning run in the top of the eighth inning to propel the Charlottetown Guadet's Auto Body Islanders to an 8-5 victory over the Hub City Brewers Wednesday in New Brunswick Senior Baseball League action.

Jake Beck picked up the win by pitching no-hit ball during the last two innings. Charlottetown improved to 4-1 while the Brewers are 1-2.

The Islanders jump out to an early 4-0 lead in the second inning, keyed by Alex Abbot’s two-run single. Charlottetown seemed in control until starting pitcher Brodie MacDonald was struck in the ankle by a batted ball and had to leave the game.

The Brewers managed to tie the game 5-5 in the fifth inning. Islanders pitcher Tyson Blue threw a clean sixth inning to set the stage for Beck and Corcoran.

Duffy, hitting in the leadoff spot, scored three of the Islanders runs. Catcher Taylor Larkin had two hits and two RBIs.

Pat Goodin led the Brewers with a double and two RBIs and Eric Hebert chipped in with two singles.

The Islanders host the Fredericton Royals (3-0) for two games Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
