Brewers, Athletics pick up wins in KCBL action

D.J. Dunn hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Brady Arsenault as the Northside Brewers beat the Peakes Bombers 5-4 in Kings County Baseball League action Wednesday night in Morell.

Taylor Larkin pitched the final four innings to earn the win, in relief of Tyson Blue.

Arsenault hit 2-for-4 in the contest. Jed Winters was 1-for-1 with a sacrifice bunt in the ninth inning to  move the runner to third. Jed MacEwen hit 1-for-2 for the Brewers and Peter MacLeod had a solo home run in the third.

Colin Myers (3-5) and Logan Cobb and Rob Phelan, each with two hits, led the Bombers at the plate.

Tyson MacInnis had a great game at shortstop in his first KCBL game.

Josh Coffin suffered the loss in relief of Rob Phelan.

Athletics 1, Dodgers 0

Allister Smith’s two-out double in the bottom of the fifth inning drove in the game’s only run as the P.E.I. Brewing Company Athletics edged the Charlottetown Domino’s Dodgers 1-0 in Kings County Baseball League action Wednesday night in Stratford.

Josh Kirpatrick threw a complete-game, three-hitter with seven strikeouts in picking up the win.

Chad MacKay, in relief of starter Clark Gallant, took the loss.

Marshall Ellis was 2-for-3 to lead the Athletics at the plate while Owen Wilson was 1-for-3 with a double to lead the Dodgers
