Doyle hits three-run home run as Morell forces fourth game with Peakes
John Walsh hit a go ahead two-run double in the top of the seventh inning to erase a 6-0 deficit and lead the Stratford 3 Points Aviation Athletics to an 8-6 win Wednesday in Kings County Baseball League playoff action.
The defending champions now lead the best-of-five semifinal series 2-0.
Tyler Johnston, in relief of starter Kyle MacDougall, got the win while Jeremy MacKinnon took the loss in relief of Nick Creelman.
Shawn MacDougall was 4-for-4 to lead the Athletics at the plate while Allister Smith, Corey Douguay and Walsh all had two hits.
The Jays were led by MacKinnon and Kris O’Brien who each had two hits.
Game 3 goes Sunday at 4 p.m. in Stratford.
Chevies 10, Bombers 4
Morell — The Morell Chevies forced a Game 4 in their semifinal series against the Peakes Bombers with a 10-4 win here Wednesday night.
Grant Doyle went the distance to pick up the win, scattering eight hits while striking out eight. Rob Phelan took the loss, with relief from Charlie Jay.
The Bombers grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a pass ball and an RBI single by Matt Bradley.
The Chevies answered in their half of the inning on a Desi Doyle three-run home run.
The Chevies would add three more runs in the second on RBI from Scott Ellsworth, Jarrod Laybolt and Doyle. They would increase their lead with a single run in the fourth on Laybolt's second double of the game and two runs in the fifth on RBI by Scott Harper and Andrew O’Shea to increase the lead to 9-2.
Peakes would score a single run in the sixth inning on an Adam MacSwain RBI only to see the Chevies answer back on a Troy Coffin single. Trevor MacAree would add an RBI single in the seventh for Peakes to round out the scoring.
Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Peakes.
