Islanders look to even series with Ironmen Wednesday at Memorial Field
The Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders won’t have too long to dwell on the opening game of their semifinal series with the Chatham Ironmen.
The Islanders lost 10-1 Tuesday night, but have a chance to avenge the loss tonight in Game 2 of the best-of-seven New Brunswick Senior Baseball League playoff series.
“The key is to have a short memory, keep calm and remind yourself it’s a long series,” Islanders coach Jason Monaghan said after the game in Chatham.
Game 2 is at Memorial Field in Charlottetown at 7:30 p.m. Jacob Beck is the home side’s projected starter.
The Ironmen broke open Tuesday’s game in the bottom of the third with seven runs on five hits.
Jamie Walls recorded the win, surrendering only four hits. Taylor Larkin was tagged with the loss with 3 2/3 innings of relief from Monaghan.
Dillon Doucette led the offence with two hits. Travis Gaudet had a hit and an RBI while Will Connolly had the other hit.
