The Morell Coverall Construction Chevies moved on to the Kings County Baseball League final with a 6-2 win over the Northside Brewers Sunday evening in Morell.
Grant Doyle picked up his second win of the series, limiting the Brewers to five hits while striking out seven. Dustin Larkin suffered the loss, allowing 12 hits over seven innings of work.
The Chevies struck early, scoring twice in the top of the first inning on a Jarrod Laybolt two-run home run. They would increase the lead to 3-0 in the third inning on a Desi Doyle RBI single.
The Chevies struck for three more runs in the fourth inning, as Quen Johnston lined an RBI double while back-to-back RBI singles by Derrick Plaggenhoef and Laybolt staked the Chevies to a 6-0 lead.
The Brewers responded with two runs in their half of the sixth inning on RBI singles by Brody Connolly and Jamie Arsenault. Laybolt would finish the night 4-for-4 to pace the Chevies, while Craig Cooper added a pair of hits.
The Chevies await the winner of the Stratford-Peakes semi. Stratford holds a 2-1 series lead with Game 4 set for Tuesday in Morell.
