Kalli Hunter hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth and final inning to propel West Royalty One (Pickles) to a 2-0 victory over West Royalty Three recently in the provincial squirt championship game.
The under-12 final was a pitchers duel between Devon Lawlor and Sydney Halliwell with Halliwell came out with the win, throwing a complete game four-hitter with two walks and nine strikeouts.
Lawlor threw a complete game gem with two hits, two walks and 11 strikeouts.
Eliza Weatherbie started the fifth inning rally by drawing a leadoff walk for only the third Pickles baserunner of the game.
Emily Waugh made three key defensive plays to help her team to victory.
Hunter was named player of the game while Halliwell was the tournament most valuable player.
Both coaches called one of the best played under-12 games of the season.
The tournament started in Tignish before the weather resulted in the medal round being played in Charlottetown. West Royalty Three, West Royalty One (Pickles), Cardigan Clippers and West Royalty Two.
The Pickles defeated Cardigan 4-0 and West Royalty Three defeated West Royalty Two 8-1. West Royalty Two beat Cardigan 7-6 to claim the bronze medal.
