MORELL — The Morell Chevies will be playing for the Kings County Baseball League championship for the 10th consecutive season and going for a fourth-straight title.
The Chevies scored 13 unanswered runs to beat the Northside Brewers 13-3 and clinch their semifinal series in three straight games Wednesday night.
The Chevies, who were the regular-season winners, will await the winner of the semifinal between the Peakes Bombers and the Stratford Murphy’s Pharmacies Athletics. The teams were tied 1-1 going into Wednesday’s game.
Craig Lawlor shook off a rough first inning to pitch the complete-game win for the Chevies, as he struck out seven over five innings while allowing eight hits, five of those coming in the first inning.
Jamie Arsenault, with relief from Mitchell Ryan, suffered the loss.
Leading the Chevies were Jarrod Laybolt, 3-for-3 with a home run, Colin Hansen, Quen Johnston and Desi Doyle, all 2-for-3, and Troy Coffin with a deep home run to right-centerfield.
Brandon McInnis and Steve MacInnis were each 2-for-3 for the Brewers.
I have been telling you for years Peakes were classless hillbillies and it was not fit ball to bring an child to watch. They are the main reason I don't watch the KCBL anymore they give everyone a bad taste in your mouth. They are abusive to everyone around them.
