The Holland College Hurricanes started hot Thursday at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) women’s basketball championship in Windsor, Ont.
The Hurricanes led 21-8 after the first quarter, 40-32 at the half and 63-58 heading to the fourth en route to an 87-78 victory over the Nomades de Montmorency.
Montmorency was the three-time defending national champions.
The Hurricanes will play the Dynamiques de Sainte Foy Friday at 9:15 p.m. Atlantic with a berth in Saturday’s final on the line. Sainte Foy defeated Montmorency in their conference final and are the CCAA top-ranked team.
Each of the four top teams advanced, leaving Humber to play the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in the other semifinal.
