Basketball players Chelsea Slawter-Wright and Roosevelt Whyley have been named the Holland Hurricanes athletes of the week .
Slawter-Wright, a first-year player with the Hurricanes from Dartmouth, N.S., led the 'Canes with nine rebounds in Saturday's 95-61 win over the STU Tommies while also scoring seven points.
The five-foot-five guard has had a strong rookie season with the 'Canes as a starter; she studies in the sport and leisure management program.
The women's basketball 'Canes are 16-1 this season and lead the ACAA while also being ranked at number four nationally by the CCAA.
Whyley, a second-year player in his first season with the Hurricanes, had a dominating weekend offensively. The six-foot-six forward scored 24 points on Saturday before adding a staggering 42 on Sunday; he had a combined 23 rebounds over the two days as well.
The Hurricanes defeated the Tommies on Saturday before defeating the Dal AC Rams on Sunday.
The Hurricanes enter the final weekend of regular season play at 19-1 and lead the ACAA while they sit at number two in the CCAA national men's basketball rankings.
The 'Canes regular season concludes this Saturday in Moncton when the men's and women's basketball team's take on the Crandall Chargers at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
