The Island Storm stormed backed Friday in Halifax, but fell 90-88 to the Hurricanes in National Basketball League of Canada play.

The Hurricanes held quarter leads of 27-21, 52-38 and 77-60 but the Storm closed with a 28-13 fourth quarter.

Justin Johnson had 18 points and seven assist for the Hurricanes, which had six players scored in double digits. Mike Glover had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Nick Evans led the Storm with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Terry Thomas had 17 points off the bench playing back in his home province while Rashad Whack added 14 and Malcolm Grant and Brent Jennings each contributed 12.

The Storm shot 65 per cent (22-for-34) at the free-throw line while the Hurricanes made 46 per cent (11-for-24) of their attempts.

Halifax improved to an Atlantic Division leading 10-4 while the Storm is 6-10. P.E.I.’s team plays at the Moncton Miracles Sunday at 2 p.m.
