Second half begins Saturday for Holland College squads

The Holland College Hurricanes volleyball teams return to action today as the second half of the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) season begins.

The women's team hosts the Mount Allison Mounties at 2 p.m., while the men are on the road in Church Point, N.S., to face the Universite Sainte-Anne. Start time there is also 2 p.m.

The women Hurricanes lead the ACAA at 8-1 while the third-place Mounties are 5-3. It's the first meeting this season between the squads.

Sydney Foy tops the 'Canes with 2.57 kills per set, Emily Caldwell has a team-high 19 aces and Dana Trainor has 115 digs.

Holland College hosts the women's collegiate nationals March 9 to 12.

On the men's side, the 'Canes sit tied with St. Thomas atop the standings, while Sainte-Anne is 0-6.

Darcie Handrahan leads the Hurricanes in kills per set (2.24) and aces (12). Peter Frenette leads in digs with 46.
