UPEI Panthers

The UPEI lady Panthers volleyball team travels to Saint John, N.B., on Saturday for a 12-team tournament.

Head coach Kevin MacAdam is looking forward to the UNBSJ Tip-off Tournament, and getting the team back into action. They have been idle since finishing third in early December in the seven-team Volleyball P.E.I. Senior Ladies Fall league.

“With half of the team from off-Island, we haven’t been able to practice as a team during the Christmas break,” MacAdam said.

“Eight of the 12 Panthers are rookies this year,” he added. “Hopefully with the busy tournament schedule on Saturday, the younger players will regain their timing quickly.”

The tourney includes the host UNBSJ, Mount Allison, Holland College and St. Thomas from the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association league, two teams from Quebec, and club teams from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Round-robin tournament play begins at 9 a.m. with semifinals scheduled for 3 p.m. and the final at 4 p.m.

Organizations: Holland College, Panthers, Collegiate Athletic Association
